Abu Dhabi residents can now rent scooters.
Abu Dhabi has legalized the rental of electric scooters, a transport agency reported July 31. After obtaining the necessary permits, companies can register with the regulatory authority of the transport sector and offer residents a scooter rental service.
The Integrated Transport Center (ITC) reported that scooters are allowed to travel at a speed of no more than 15-20 km / h. In this case, you can use tracks designed for pedestrians and cyclists.
At the pilot stage of the project, it will be possible to rent a modern city electric vehicle on Corniche Street and Khalifa Bin Zayed Street. For six months to a year, ITC will study the demand for a service to determine the need for its further development.
ITC has warned that riding electric scooters will be limited to designated areas. In addition, people using this type of transport will not be allowed to interfere with traffic, endanger pedestrians or park in the wrong places.
