UAE residents require government approval to increase air conditioning capacity

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have warned that residents must obtain permission before increasing the power of their home air conditioner.

More and more UAE residents are modernizing their home air conditioners, increasing their capacity to escape the heat. The other day, the Federal Agency for Electricity and Water Supply (Fewa) warned that this "risky action could lead to a serious fire."

Mohammed Saleh, Fewa’s CEO, said customers should consult with management before increasing capacity. He warned that, according to reports, many cases of fire in the country were caused by poor-quality power sources.

Muhammad Saleh also said that the longer the air conditioner works, the greater the likelihood of a fire.
