Dubai Municipality has approved 20 prescriptions for tents and lounges that allow smoking hookah during the month of Ramadan.
The Dubai administration has published requirements for the owners of the tents, in which visitors are served hookahs during the Ramadan period. The Department of Health and Safety prescribes a plan indicating the number of visitors, and each person should have about 2 square meters.
The owners of the tents should completely separate the smoking and non-smoking areas, or not serve guests with hookah until 21:00. Smoking a hookah is allowed only if there are no pregnant women and children under the age of 18 in the tent. Tent owners may require identification to verify age.
The standards for conditioning and purification of internal air must comply with Federal Law No. 15 of 2009 on Tobacco Control, as well as its executive order. The Department of Health and Safety conducts thorough tent inspections to verify compliance with the requirements of the municipality.
Among the most frequent violations can be identified: the opening of the tent without the permission of the municipality, the excess of the permissible number of people in the tent in accordance with the resolution and inoperative ventilation systems in some places.
The owners of the tent should hang their permission in a clearly visible place. Also in the tent should be located a warning sticker at the entrance, informing about the prohibition of his visit to persons under the age of 18 years. In addition, in accordance with the requirement of the municipality of Dubai, only one-time pipes should be used in hookahs, and emergency exits should be provided in the tent itself.
