Royal watches sold at auction in Dubai for US $ 1 million

At the Christie's in Dubai, the watches of the King of Egypt were sold for 3.4 million dirhams.

Dubai, UAE. Watches owned by King Farouk I of Egypt were sold at Christie's in Dubai for AED 3.4 million (US $ 912,000), an absolute record for the Middle East. The product was purchased by an unknown buyer.

A rare watch Patek Philippe 1518 was presented to the King of Egypt when he was only 25 years old. A chronometer with an indicator of the phases of the moon is engraved in the form of the letter F on the back case of 18 carat gold.

It should be noted that during the same auction other Rolex watches were sold belonging to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president, prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai: they went under the hammer for 596 thousand dirhams (US $ 163.3 thousand).

In total, at Christie's spring auction 191 watches were sold for a total of 26.24 million dirhams (US $ 7.19 million).
