UAE shores washed by red waves

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates advised fishermen not to fish in certain areas of the country due to red waters.

Red spots appeared in the waters along the coastline of the UAE. The Ministry of Climate and Environmental Change has confirmed that algae blooms are the cause.

The ministry warned fishermen and beach people of possible toxic substances in the water. It is not recommended to fish and shellfish in certain areas.

"People with allergies are advised to avoid swimming in algae-affected waters," the ministry said in a statement.

To prevent further problems, the ministry monitors the situation through satellite monitoring of the marine environment in cooperation with the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment.

"Satellite images showed that biological activity spreads to the Indian Ocean and neighboring countries," the ministry said.

Ministry specialists took water samples to determine the origin of the algae. The first results show that flowering does not contain "harmful phytoplankton, which causes the death of fish and other marine species."

As a rule, the “red tide" is a massive development of dinophytes. It is dangerous not only by the abundance of algae themselves, but by the toxins produced by them, which also tend to accumulate in the organisms of the inhabitants of the seas, which later become seafood. If the amount of toxins exceeds the norm, water and its inhabitants become extremely dangerous for human health and life.
