UAE relies on artificial intelligence to tackle climate change

The world's first Minister of Artificial Intelligence from the United Arab Emirates spoke about how technology will help address climate change issues.

Artificial intelligence (AI) does not pose a threat to humanity, but, on the contrary, helps to solve some global problems, said the world's first State Minister of AI in the UAE Cabinet, 27-year-old Omar bin Sultan Al-Olama.

Speaking for the first time since his appointment at the Zayed Future Energy Prize panel discussion in Abu Dhabi, he stated that AI is very valuable in addressing issues such as climate change.

According to him, artificial intelligence can contribute to the distribution of the budget to improve energy infrastructure. Another role of AI is to process huge amounts of data that would take the entire life of individual scientists without the use of technology.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Zayed Future Energy Prize. According to organizers, it positively affected the lives of 289 million people worldwide thanks to projects that prevented the emission of billions of tons of CO2, promoted the use of clean renewable energy in 40 million homes and provided clean drinking water for more than seven million.

The jury selects nine winners in five categories from more than 2 thousand applications received from more than 112 countries of the world. Winners will be announced in January.
