The Maktum clan belongs to the Bani Yas tribe group inhabiting the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed was born in Dubai on July 22, 1949. He is the third son of the late hereditary ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. After returning to his homeland in the late 1960s, a young sheikh who received a European education became the head of the police and security services in the emirate. In 1971, he created the Dubai Defense Forces. In 1975, these forces became part of the united emirate army. Sheikh Mohammed, at the age of 26, led the UAE's armed forces, becoming the youngest defense minister in the world. Politician
On January 4, 2006, Sheikh Mohammed became ruler of Dubai after the death of his older brother Sheikh Maktum. Sheikh Muhammad published several collections of verses and poems called by the Arabs "sofas".
