Cruciani: the finest charms the purest specimen

Interviewed Dariga Masenova

THIS YEAR, ITALIAN BRAND OF FINISHED CLOTHES AND ACCESSORIES "CRUCIANI" ESTABLISHED A RECORD: FROM THE ESTABLISHMENT IN 1992, THE COMPANY PRODUCED MILLION CASHMERE PRODUCTS. WHERE COLLECTING WOOL FOR PRODUCTION OF THE BRAND, AND WHAT A REVERSE OF THE ACCESSORIES IN THE WORLD, THE BRAND HAS MADE, TOLD US LUKA KAPRAY, THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY AND ITS IDEAL INSPIRATOR.

FAMILY TRADITIONS

Cruciani factory is located in one of the most beautiful places in Italy, in the village of Trevi, in Urbani, in the homeland of the founder of the company, Luca Capraia.

Therefore, the conversation began with an important topic for Cruciani and its creator - continuity, traditions and, of course, the family.

Luca, each major brand advances its own philosophy. What is she for Cruciani?

Original design, combined with craftsmanship and high quality, is a key aspect for us.

Cruciani product can only be made in Italy: the brand combines the best Italian traditions, a love of quality and art. The Kaprai family is kind to work and attaches great importance to nuances and details. Each of us is a passionate creator, cherishing his skills, and pros in one area. For example, I am engaged in the production of knitted clothes, my brother is engaged in winemaking, and my father is exclusively creating lace.

Who inspires you?

My father is Arnaldo Caprai. I have always admired his knowledge of textiles. He became my main teacher. Thanks to him, I passionately loved knitted cashmere things, I wanted to free the world of fashion from old-fashioned ideas about knitwear as something suitable only for out-of-town trips.

To debunk this myth, we had to make great efforts and invest in the purchase of cutting-edge looms, the development of technologies with which we were able to create new, finest fabrics.

What is the Cruciani brand?

Young, modern, stylish. Cruciani items are easy and pleasant to wear. Any of them is timeless and fashionable, has an original design and premium quality.

Luke, is it true that one of the types of threads you patented is several times thinner than a human hair?

These unique threads are called the "Red Diamond". They are really 6.5 times thinner than a human hair and have special characteristics.

Information about them is registered by the world famous Det Norske Veritas (DNV) classification society. The Red Diamond is essentially the world's longest cashmere fiber.

What fabrics do you like to work with?

In addition to cashmere, we use the most delicate silk and cotton, rare types of wool, for example, high-altitude vicuna (a rare type of llama), a subject of national pride of Peru. This is the lightest, finest and most expensive wool in the world. It is important for us to control all the stages of creating the Cruciani product.

In Italy, the factory employs 66 wool processing masters. Some of them are involved in the Cruciani color library: in our arsenal there are more than four thousand different colors of yarn and thread.

Luca, you didn’t stop at creating clothes and introduced the fashion for Cruciani C.

We always look ahead and the Cruciani C accessories line, the crown of which has become a branded bracelet, is a vivid example of this. The delicate macrame lace bracelet has the shape of a clover flower consisting of four petals. It is interesting that initially these bracelets were only an experiment, a game: I wanted to see how a younger audience would react to the brand, and as a result created a hit.

Lace is traditional in Italy, however, Cruciani C bracelets made a real revolution in 2011 ...

This is truly a phenomenon. In August 2011, people lined up in the Cruciani boutique in Forteday Marmi just to buy Cruciani C. lace flowers, which became the hit of the summer. The excitement around the bracelets swept first in Italy, and then the rest of Europe, the USA, and Japan. The bracelets officially debuted in Milan during the Vogue Fashion Night Out event, while Cruciani C boutiques began to open in Madrid, Milan, Dubai, Seoul, Rome, Beirut, Istanbul and Paris.

Floral motifs, hearts, skulls, dragons, the “palm of Fatima” or, as the Arabs call it “hamsa”, which means “five,” conquered fashionistas.
