Disabled people can take a taxi in Dubai for free

The Government of Dubai has introduced a new program under which persons with disabilities will be able to use taxi services for free.

Dubai’s Taxi Department of Traffic and Transport Management (DTC), along with Al-Futtaim Motors, a strategic partner of the management fund, launched the Al Khair Ride program for people with disabilities. Under this program, people with disabilities are offered free taxi rides during 2018. Taxis participating in the program are equipped with all necessary facilities for the disabled, as well as equipped with modern technologies for ensuring security and privacy.

To this end, the DTC and Al-Futtaim Motors signed an agreement in the presence of Mohammed Obaid Al Mullah, a member of the RTA board of directors and chairman of the charity, Dr. Youssef Al Ali, head of the DTC and vice president of the RTA charity. Also, other high-ranking officials of both parties attended the signing of the document.

"Persons with disabilities can use the Al Khair Ride program by calling 042080808. Dubai has a 24-hour service," said Yousef Al Ali. The Al Khair Ride program is part of the UAE's assistance strategy for the Year of Zayed, as well as one of the RTA's initiatives. The program is based on the principles of the deceased father of the nation, Sheikh Zayed ibn Sultan Al Nahyan. “The presented assistance program is included in the state program of the government of Dubai“ My city is our common home, ”aimed at turning Dubai into one of the most adapted cities for people with disabilities by 2020,” the official continued.

DTC pays special attention to people with disabilities, seeks to provide them with comfortable living conditions and comes up with various initiatives to provide services to such people. The department allocated a number of taxis for people with disabilities, equipping them with modern wheelchairs so that citizens of a special category could easily use the services offered. “Disabled people will be transported by high-class drivers,” said Dr. Youssef.

Yousef Al Raisi, Head of Government Relations at Al-Futtaim Motors, emphasized:

"This program is part of an effort to revive the noble goals proclaimed by Sheikh Zayed, a model of wisdom, benevolence and generosity for all UAE citizens. This initiative also illustrates our social obligations to people with disabilities, allows us to meet their needs and help overcome difficulties, they face in everyday life, among other things, the program encourages the charity work of private companies and government agencies. Cooperation with DTC opens prospects for new initiatives, projects and plans. "
