Residents of the tower that was burning in Dubai were waiting for a surprise upon returning home

Dubai Civil Defense officials welcomed Torch Tower residents returning to their apartments.

Residents of the Torch Tower, in which a fire occurred on August 4, 2017, were able to return to their apartments last Monday. Upon their return, firefighters from the Civil Defense Service prepared welcome letters for them on the doors.

Major General Rashid Al Matrushi, Director General of the Dubai Civil Defense, ordered his subordinates to return to the tower to greet the residents with a good gesture. A team of firefighters led by Lieutenant Colonel Ali Hassan Al Mutawa, Assistant General Commander of the Intelligent Civil Defense Services of Dubai, left messages on the doors of 597 apartments.

The note in Arabic and English said: "We are glad that you have returned safely."

The team inspected the damage caused to the apartments and met with residents who briefly talked about their losses.

Earlier last week, Dubai police teams also visited the flower tower to show their emotional support to residents.

During the incident, firefighters, rescue teams and ambulance staff in Dubai evacuated 475 people in record time and at high risk. Due to this, as a result of the fire, there is not a single victim.

Rescued residents were resettled in three neighboring hotels and received permission to return to their apartments on August 7.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

Of the 676 apartments, 38 were completely burned out. The fire started on the 28th floor of the tower, and 64 floors were affected by the fire.
