Duty-free growth at Abu Dhabi Airport in the 1st quarter totaled 26.1%

According to the company "Airports in Abu Dhabi" (ADAC), the volume of duty-free sales of the international capital airport increased in the first quarter of 2010 by 26.1%. In addition to increasing this figure at the capital airport of the United Arab Emirates, the company recently announced an increase in the number of passengers over the same period of time, which "demonstrates the return of consumer confidence in the metropolitan travel and trade sector."

“We are encouraged by the results of the first quarter. The fact that the number of passengers increased by 12.3% compared to the same period last year confirms the correctness of our chosen strategy and its positive impact on cooperation with our partners,” says Hureiz Almur bin Hureyz, a commercial Director of ADAC.

According to him, "an increase in duty-free sales takes place in all segments, and especially in perfumes, cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, gold and electronics, which are the most popular and in demand."

ADAC executives expect this year to be a record high for retail, with at least US $ 160 million at the end of the year.
